Located along National Route 156 at the gateway to Okumi-no, Minami roadside station is home to the only daily open-air market in the region, where local farmers sell hand-picked seasonal vegetables and wild mountain vegetables—such as fresh fuki-no-tsubo and yamabuki shoots—direct from their fields. Visitors can also taste the station’s signature roasted chestnut rice, a regional specialty made with locally grown chestnuts and served only here.

• Best Arrival Time: Arrive by 8:30 AM on weekdays to secure the first pick of the day’s fresh produce at the morning market, as the most popular items like heirloom tomatoes and wild mountain vegetables are typically sold out by 10:00 AM.

• Hidden Gems: Visit the deli counter between 10:00 AM and 11:30 AM to find the day’s limited batch of homemade miso soup dumplings, which are only prepared on Tuesdays and Fridays.
